Before founding the firm, he held senior leadership roles in major banking institutions in the UAE and internationally. In addition, he served on the boards of financial institutions and chaired the UAE Banks Federation.

He was also a member of the UK banking federation. Early in his career, he played a key role in banking mergers and acquisitions across the Middle East.
